Are You Walking Your Talk?

Take time to read the following article and use it to evaluate whether you are walking your talk or not. If you are, then praise God for showing you His Love, Wisdom and Mercy. If not, then ask God for forgiveness and then determine that you will begin walking your talk.

A Resolution To Reveal God's Love

Traditionally, January is a time to evaluate our past and plan our future. Self-examination is valuable if it doesn't become self-condemnation or self-exaltation. If you evaluate your life, why not evaluate it against God's standards, not mine, yours or anyone else's.

God says we are to judge ourselves, not others. Take a few minutes and prayfully consider your life against God's standard: His Love and Truth.

Are you holding up the standard which God has given? What is His standard? What sets Christians apart from the world? The truth is, sometimes, very little. God commands us to love one another though. Through His Love, we reveal Jesus Christ as our Savior.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34-35

Helping Others Is Loving God

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 34-40

What Would You Do?

A friend tells you that she does not know how she will get to her doctor's office for her weekly appointments. Do you:

A) Tell her you will pray for God to provide her transportation to and from her doctor's office?

B) Get a group of friends to take turns driving her to the appointments?

A friend confides to you he needs $100.00 or the electric company will disconnect his service. Yourfriend cannot raise the money. Do you:

A) Express your sympathy and pat your friend on the back as you walk away?

B) Contact the electric company to personally pay the bill for your friend?

You discover a young woman and her two children are living in their car. Do you:

A) Disregard it. You see this sort of thing everyday.

B) Invite the family into your home until they can get back on their feet?

Your church needs to raise a large sum of money for their missionary fund. Do you:

A) Publicly announce you will match the funds raised by the church?

B) Silently slip a generous offering into the collection plate?

A local organization wants to build a shelter for the homeless near your neighborhood. Do you:

A) Call the local zoning officials and threaten them so they will not approve the application?

B) Encourage support from local officials and your neighbors for the shelter?

In Christian circles, we often hear the phrase "We have to walk the talk." What does this mean? It means that being a Christian is more than just attending church on Sunday and throwing out dry rhetoric. It means showing the Love of Jesus Christ. Love is an action! It takes time and effort.
