His Presence

By Synthia Robinson-Pack

My body starts to tremble as my spirit begins to soar.

I am kneeling down in prayer with my head on the floor.

I can feel excitement in the air,

As I have many times before.

Although my eyes are closed, I know He is here.

I have nothing to hide. I have nothing to fear.

I have already dealt with my sin,

That is why He can come near.

His Presence fills the room and my soul with His peace.

I am now filled with comfort, hope and relief.

My Lord comes to His child,

All I had to do was seek.

"Oh Lord, my life is crushing me on every side.

And I cannot fix it no matter how hard I try.

I am so broken and defeated."

He holds me as I cry.

"I have given and given until there is nothing left.

My hope, strength and joy have all been bereft.

I cannot carry this load anymore.

I need some peace, strength and rest."

I can feel restoration as He holds me in His arms.

His peace and strength take away my alarm.

I know that He will carry me,

And keep me from all harm.

His strength flows into me, deep down inside.

His hope follows afterward and it flows wide.

Joy comes with His Presence.

Oh Lord, there I always want to abide.

His love though is what I feel most when He speaks,

"My child, I will give you My lasting peace.

It will take you through life easily

And lead you into great victory, not defeat."

His peace spreads over me like the sun’s rays

Warm the harsh and biting cold winter days.

I can feel it warming me

And I draw strength because I know it will stay.

It will gently carry me forward. I will not fall back.

I have found everything I need. I suffer no lack.

I have all in Jesus.

He will protect me and overcome any attack.

He holds and comforts me for quite a while.

Then softly He says, "It’s time I go, My child."

I do not want Him to leave though

I want Him to help me face my trials.

He assures me that it will go well or so I will find.

Then His beautiful hand gently lets go of mine.

He reminds me I am not alone.

"Don’t worry. I’ll be watching all the time."

I am alone now but comforted by the fact,

That my God and I, we have made a pact.

I can come into His Presence

When I am afraid, hurt or suffer lack.

He will always meet me when His face I seek.

When He comes He will bring His strength and His peace.

I will then be restored and find rest,

When fighting life’s battles have made me weak.

I come often through prayer to this secret place,

Where I can find Jesus and see His lovely face,

He is always waiting

With kindness, love, peace and grace.
