Rest Now, My Child
By Synthia Robinson-Pack
In the darkest part of the deepest night, You come to me and bring me light.
It is incredible when I feel You near, Worry leaves and pain disappears.
It is hard to be sad when you are close, I can feel the Presence of the Holy Ghost.
Sweet Jesus gently cradles me in His hands. I know He cares and that He understands.
The Father lovingly comforts His distressed child. Taking my list of problems I have compiled.
He looks it over, up and down. His smile never leaves. He never frowns.
There are no worry lines in His face. I can only see peace and grace.
As He serenely looks at my list. And says, "You're worrying over this?
"My child, I will take these problems you bear, Because I love you, because I care.
"Leave them with me and I will not fail. Your worries are gone. My peace will prevail.
"I will handle them with the utmost concern. Allow me to take them, then you will learn,
"That I am worthy of your tender trust. Because I love you so very much.
You do not have to waste any more time. Give up your problems. Make them mine.
Then you will find sweet sleep and rest. Despite any problems, despite any test.
Give me your problems and fears each day. Turn your worries over to Me as you pray.
I will listen, yes, I will hear. You will find that I am always near.
Learning over to catch every word you speak. Waiting to give you peace, strength and relief.
So now close your eyes and you can rest, Without fear, reservation or regret.
Go ahead and drift off to sleep, As you listen to My heart beat.
I will hold you close to My chest. Protecting and strengthening as you rest.
I will wipe away your tears. I will banish all your fears.
When you call upon Me you will find, That I am here all the time.
But you can, Lord, I am so small, My voice is lost so how can I call?
When you could not cry out to me in words, And your heart called for me, I heard.
So, child, now go to sleep without alarm. Securely resting in Your Father's arms.
The night will be conquered by the light. Fear will be vanished when faith is in sight.
You will be able to see when daylight appears. That I never abandoned you. I was always here.
