Why, God?

In the midst of great adversity I went to God with questions,

Expecting to receive divine insight, wisdom and direction.

Why does it seem that in the midst of my fearful, darkest time,

You depart and leave me stranded in the deepest tribulation?

He answered me with incredible love and in no other terms,

I will never leave you nor forsake you, didn't that you once learn?

You are my child, one of My own, I would not abandon you.

You pulled further and further away from Me every time you squirmed.

But God, I do not understand why my heart is full of such fear.

Why can't you give Me Your peace and make the worry just disappear?

Beloved one, did I not say that I have given you My peace?

In My presence fear departs and peace flows, why do you not come near?

Still further on I pressed my Lord, the divine secrets to unlock.

Why do you wait until the last minute to deliver your flock?

With incredible patience He replied, not wasting any time,

Heaven is only ruled by Me and not by calendars or clocks.

I exclaimed, Oh God, you are truly God, worthy of all my praise.

Sharing with a mortal man Your wisdom, pure thoughts and righteous ways.

I still want to know why You say that my life has a divine plan,

Yet I cannot find it though I struggle and I search day after day.

With great tenderness He said, Oh my chosen child, please understand,

All you ever had to do was ask - not beg, barter or demand.

You looked everywhere for protection, peace, provision and purpose,

While all the time I gently held it for you in my outstretched Hands.
